About Us

The name Matanzas Cuban Cafe is an homage to the city of Matanzas, Cuba where my Mother's family is from. My grandparents along with my mother and her 2 siblings immigrated to New York in 1971 and with their hopes and dreams abuela Mima also brought her passion for cooking. I grew up in a home that centered all life events whether big or small, around food. The constant aroma of traditional Cuban meals like Ropa Vieja, Pernil, Picadillo and Arroz con Frijoles Negros permeated the air. To our family, food is love, food is comfort, food is home. We want everyone in the community to experience recipes that have been passed down through many generations. Please stop by, have a cafecito and feel at home.
